Realistic firelogs with flickering glow conveniently powered by batteries with no external wires.  
The flickering effect is beautiful, IMO.

I used dried little twigs from my backyard maple tree and cut them to proper lengths to create the stacked logs.  

There are also faux charcoal pieces around the fire.

This firelogs insert runs on 3 button cell batteries (LR44).
An on/off switch is accessible from the underside.  Please refer to the last photo.
To replace batteries, press the latch on the underside to remove the plastic lid first.

log base is approximately 1" deep X 1 3/4" wide;  2.2" tall to tip of the tallest flame
