Glowforge project: Chest of drawers organizer / printer stand

August 16, 2020

Necessity is the mother of creation

While my craft room is not getting larger as my craft interests keep growing, the only way to increase storage for supplies and tools is to expand upwards.  I can associate my expansion plan to skyscrapers in cities.  Since I built a smaller chest of drawers a few months ago (last photo) and really find it useful, I decided to build a larger piece with four tray drawers to tame portion of my hordes.  I can also use it as a print stand so that the same real estate is to double its capacity.

Materials List:

For the case, five MDF sheets - 1/4" X 12" X 20"

For the four drawers, MDF sheets -1/8" X 12" X 20"

Optional: any attractive wood veneer, wall paper, formica, drawer liners to cover the humble looking MDF drawer fronts.

Drawer pulls of your choice: 4 pieces

Cost to build:

MDF costs:

I have not included other costs since they are insignificant.  However, to be totally accurate, the cost should include amortization of laser cutter acquisition without which this piece cannot be built in such a relatively short time frame and precision.
